GENERAL INFORMATION

What is Confratute?

Confratute is a combined CONFerence and an InstiTUTE with a lot of FRATernity in between. Confratute provides educators with practical, research-based strategies for engagement and enrichment learning for all students that meet the needs of gifted and talented students as well.

When is Confratute?

Confratute will take place at the UConn Storrs campus from July 14-18, 2024. 

Will there be a virtual option this year?

This year we will not have a virtual Confratute. Instead, we are offering four one-day “Taste of Confratute” events throughout the year. Visit https://confratute.uconn.edu/taste-of-confratute/ for more information.

When does live Confratute start?

On-site registration and check-in begin in the afternoon on July 14.

When does live Confratute end?

Confratute ends on Thursday, July 18 at NOON.

What is the daily schedule?

What topics are offered at Confratute? 

You can view our tentative strand schedule here.

Can I earn contact hours while attending Confratute? 

You can earn Contact Hours by attending and documenting your full schedule of keynotes, strands, and special sessions.  A planning and documentation guide will be provided. The guide should be completed and turned in before the end of Confratute to receive contact hours. We do not provide CEU's.

What do I need to do to sign up to receive graduate credit for Confratute?

If you are a non-degree student, there is nothing that you need to do before you arrive. If you are in a UConn degree program, contact your advisor. Details on how to apply for graduate credit will be available upon arrival.

COSTS

How much does Confratute cost? 

The cost for Confratute varies according to the package you choose. We offer an early-bird discount for registrations that arrive before June 1.  The early bird resident rate is $1,890 for 2024. Commuter packages are available. More information on pricing can be found here.

How does the group discount work?

Discount prices for groups of five or more people attending from the same school or school district can be obtained by registering as a group online. Group registrations must be submitted together before June 1 for the discount to be applied and the group members to be housed together or in close proximity to one another.

What other costs might I need to be aware of besides registration?

There are separate costs for graduate credits, airport shuttles, books, and the fitness center. Specific information will be posted on our registration site (coming soon!).

Are there any scholarships available for Confratute?

This year, Confratute has a limited number of scholarships available for teachers working with 2eASD students. For more information and to apply, visit this website.  We have also compiled a listing of recommended websites for Grants and Scholarships that may be appropriate for teachers.

 

REGISTRATION & CHECK IN

When is the registration deadline?

The deadline for Confratute registration is July 1, but your registration must be completed before June 1 to receive the early-bird discount. Space is limited and once capacity is reached, no additional registrations will be accepted.

What are the payment options?

Payment can be made by credit card or purchase order at the time of registration. Purchase orders must be received within 3 weeks of online registration to secure your spot.

What if I need to cancel my registration? Will I receive a refund?

Cancelations must be received by July 1 and a $50 cancellation fee will be charged. No refunds will be processed if they are received after July 1.

 

HOUSING & MEALS

Where will I be staying on campus?

All residents will be housed in South Campus Resident Halls. Sheets and towels are provided.  

Can I choose my roommate?

You may indicate your roommate preference in the registration system.

Are there any campus housing options for people with special needs?

We have a limited number of handicap-accessible rooms available in Charter Oak. Please let us know if you have a medical condition or disability that requires special housing considerations.

I would prefer to stay in the hotel on campus. Is that an option?

Participants may book their own accommodations. A limited number of discounted rooms are available at the Graduate Storrs Hotel. Please use this link to book your room or by calling 860-427-7888. Please reference group code 8768402 or group name Confratute Participants 2024 when calling.

What meals are provided for participants?

Meals start on Sunday evening and end Thursday with lunch. Attendees should indicate dietary restrictions when registering.

 

TRANSPORTATION 

Are shuttle services available from the airport or bus/train station?

Confratute shuttles are available from Bradley Airport to Storrs beginning at 12 noon on Sunday and will run every other hour until 7:00 PM. Shuttles will also be available on Thursday at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30 pm. Shuttle fees are non-refundable. Uber is also widely used in our area of the state.

How will I get around campus?

There will be no campus shuttle provided this year. All Confratute events are within a 5-10 minute walk of the residence halls and hotel. Van service is available by request for those requiring an accommodation.
