Special Features of Confratute

  • STRANDS—intensive week-long mini courses taught by experts in gifted and enrichment education are the core of Confratute and are available for graduate credit. It is not necessary to pre-register for strands.
  • BREAKOUT STRANDS—”breakouts” for the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) strand are held Wednesday-Friday. Experts in implementing the SEM will present field-tested methods of using the model for administrators and various grade levels.
  • MICRO-CREDENTIALS—provides educators with competency-based recognition for the skills they learned at Confratute
  • KEYNOTE PRESENTATIONS—issues and topics within the field of gifted education are presented by nationally known experts who will inspire educators to think forward to the future of gifted education and talent development.
  • SPECIAL TOPICS—discussion and hands-on sessions that deal with innovative practices and exemplary ideas in education of the gifted are offered most afternoons.
  • EVENING FORUMS—forums to help you develop your own action plan for taking back home and implementing in your school or district.

  • ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS—lunch and dinner time discussions with a focus on the issues relevant to enrichment teaching and learning.
  • SOCIAL GATHERINGS—evening social events provide a balance to the intensive learning experiences that have given Confratute its international reputation.
  • CONFRACHORUS—the ConfraChorus holds rehearsals each day to prepare a selection of songs to perform at the variety show on Thursday evening.
  • THE CONFRATUTE VARIETY SHOW—held each week, the variety show is an opportunity for participants to share their talents from virtuosity to satire. All participants are invited to join the ConfraChorus that performs for this event.
